On February 16th, the CRI (Civic Resilience Initiative) and the Baltic Security Foundation, supported by Google, presented the “Tracking and Fighting Disinformation” project in Riga.

With the support of the Latvian National Library Foundation (LNB Atbalsta biedrība), the organizers gathered educators, students, politicians, diplomats, and other stakeholders to demonstrate the disinformation monitoring and gamified learning tools that are developed as a part of the project for the benefit of information security of the Baltic states.

The event was opened by a keynote speech by Nathalie Vogel representing IWP, highlighting informational security issues in the Baltic states and the challenges that are similar in Latvia, Germany, and other European states.

At the conclusion, a panel discussion with Gunta Sloga (executive director of the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence), Joe Horgan (media literacy teacher at Jelgavas Spīdolas Valsts ģimnāzija), and Lillian Mullins (visiting researcher at Daugavpils Universitāte) discussed the problems and solutions for media literacy from public, private, and educational outlooks.
