IWP celebrates 35th Anniversary Gala

On October 9^th, over 500 students, alumni, trustees, faculty, and supporters came together for IWP’s 35th Anniversary Gala. The event was hosted in the iconic Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium.

Colonel Gavin Rice, U.S. Army, IWP Class of 2014 and current doctoral student, led the guests in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

An invocation was then offered by Captain Chris Glass, U.S. Navy (retired), IWP Executive Vice President.

IWP President Ambassador Aldona Woś gave welcoming remarks, thanking all who support the IWP mission of educating leaders in the crucial fields of national security, intelligence, and international affairs.

Dr. John Lenczowski, IWP Founder, Chancellor, and President Emeritus, and Chairman John Lovewell, presented Amb. Woś with the very first IWP American Eagle Award.

The evening concluded with a singing of God Bless America, led by three IWP alumni: Retired Captain Timothy Field, Fairfax County Ceremonial Honor Guard; Ivan Esparza, Global Security Analyst at Global Guardian; and Rachel Jones, U.S. Department of State.

The Gala served as the culmination of IWP’s annual Chancellor’s Council Meeting, in which our top supporters gathered for an opening reception at IWP on the evening of October 8^th, followed by breakfast and lectures from IWP alumni and faculty at the Riggs Washington, D.C. on October 9^th.

Two alumni gave off-the-record lectures on the state of our national defense apparatus and the current situation in Taiwan. Additional lectures included a discussion on Syria with Amb. David Hale, free trade and statecraft with Dr. Anne Bradley, Africa’s intelligence landscape with Prof. Paul Kepp, and an update from the front lines in Ukraine with Prof. Glenn Corn.
