IWP Announces the Appointment of a New President: Capt. Chris Glass, Sr., USN (Ret.)

We are pleased to announce that Captain Christopher D. Glass, Sr., USN (Ret.) has been promoted to President of The Institute of World Politics.

Captain Glass brings to this role significant experience in entrepreneurship, government, and the Intelligence Community. He believes strongly in IWP’s mission, and he has a track record of proven leadership at IWP for the last nine years.

“We are proud and fortunate to promote our new President from within,” said Amb. Aldona Woś, who will become President Emeritus. “Chris’ presidency will ensure institutional stability, continuity, and sustained advancement moving forward.”

Captain Glass will assume the Presidency following a very successful four years, during which Amb. Woś served as President and he served as Executive Vice President. During this time, IWP increased its academic offerings with new degree programs, including IWP’s first Ph.D.; set records for enrollment; expanded its faculty of scholar-practitioners; increased its sources of philanthropic support; and achieved wider name recognition, especially in the professional national security community.

She has made tremendous personal sacrifices to make this happen, and we are so grateful for the four years of 12-hour+ days that she dedicated to advancing the mission of IWP and preparing it for future success. We are very pleased that Chris Glass has agreed to succeed her, and we have the utmost confidence in his leadership.”

Captain Glass has served as Executive Vice President since 2022. As Executive Vice President, he managed staff, annual budgets, facilities, and institutional growth.

For five years until January 3, 2022, he served as Senior Vice President for Professional Affiliations at the Institute. In this capacity, he oversaw three vital components of the Institute’s work: relations with U.S. government agencies, the armed services, corporations, and academic institutions; graduate student recruitment; and career services. Under his leadership, IWP developed partnerships with some two dozen colleges, universities, and other institutions.

A veteran of Naval Intelligence with assignments in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the National Maritime Intelligence Center, Captain Glass has vast experience in one of the most prominent fields that we teach at IWP. He has combined this with leadership in program management in contract support for the Intelligence Community.
