Dr. Tim McCranor, IWP Assistant Dean of Academics, attended a summit centered on promoting civic thought on college campuses. The event, titled “Civic Thought on Campus: How to Build a Successful Program,” was jointly hosted by the Jack Miller Center (JMC) and the Center for Constitutional Studies at Utah Valley University (UVU) in November 2025. Both organizations are partners of IWP.

Panelists from across the country, including Dr. McCranor, gathered to strategize as to how to translate a reinvigorated civic interest into long-term enthusiasm in American higher education. The panelists examined how the key principles that shaped America’s founding and its subsequent history can be disseminated in a more effective manner amidst the 250th anniversary of the United States. Notable speakers were Matthew Brogdon (Senior Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies at UVU) and Paul Carrese (Senior Fellow for Civic Thought and Leadership at JMC).

IWP has had a close relationship with the Jack Miller Center over the last several years. IWP was named a Partner Program by JMC in 2023, and JMC has sponsored IWP’s American Statecraft Fellowship, a summer program for undergraduate students. JMC has also sponsored several Constitution Day lectures at IWP. Additionally, Dr. McCranor attended the Center’s annual Summer Institute in 2021.

IWP looks forward to continuing our partnerships with JMC and UVU as we work to teach American founding principles to our students – a key part of our school’s mission.
