On May 14th, IWP Trustee Mario Kranjac was appointed Chairman of The Institute of World Politics, following two years of service as Vice Chairman and four years on the Board of Trustees.
Mr. Kranjac is a Partner at Kranjac Tripodi & Partners, LLP, where he advises domestic and international business entities in matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and raising of capital, securities, asset-based financing, project finance, technology licensing, contracts, commercial transactions, and real estate transactions.
From 2016-2024, he served as the mayor of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
“We are delighted and honored that Mario has assumed the Chairmanship of IWP,” said Dr. John Lenczowski, Founder, Chancellor, and President Emeritus of IWP. “He is a proven leader whose judgment, integrity, moral compass, and staunch commitment to IWP’s mission and Charter make him exceptionally well-suited for this role. Mario understands the importance of educating principled leaders who are prepared to advance the national interest and contribute to peace and security around the world.”
John Lovewell, who served as Chairman for the past seven years, also praised Mr. Kranjac’s leadership and dedication to the school.
“Mario brings wisdom, energy, and a deep commitment to IWP’s mission,” said Mr. Lovewell. “I have every confidence that under his leadership, the Institute will continue to grow in strength and impact as it prepares future leaders for service to our country.”

IWP remains deeply grateful to Mr. Lovewell for his many years of extraordinary service to the Institute. A member of the IWP Board of Trustees for approximately 20 years, he continues to serve on both the Board and its Executive Committee.
Among his myriad contributions to the growth of the Institute, Mr. Lovewell played a pivotal role in guiding IWP through the acquisition of its campus buildings. In recognition of the generosity of Mr. Lovewell and his wife, Cynthia, the front classroom of the Marlatt Mansion was named in honor of Commodore John Barry, an ancestor of Mrs. Lovewell who is widely regarded as “The Father of the American Navy.” Together, they also established the Commodore John Barry Scholarship at IWP to support outstanding students.
“John Lovewell has been one of the most exceptional trustees that any institution could possibly have. He has devoted his time, talent, and treasure to IWP for decades,” said Dr. Lenczowski. “His leadership and steadfast support have sustained and shaped the Institute in lasting ways, and we are profoundly grateful for all that he and Cynthia have done to advance our mission.”
In addition to our new Chairman, several other leadership changes took place on the IWP Board of Trustees on May 14th. Ambassador Aldona Woś, President Emerita of IWP, became Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Jackie Wieland became Treasurer.
