This fall, IWP will welcome a 12-person cohort from the Department of War Strategic Thinkers Program (STP), thanks to a new partnership between IWP and Arizona State University (ASU).
Through the Strategic Thinkers Program, active duty, mid-career military officers or government civilians pursue a 12-month master’s degree in war and strategy to enhance their ability to contribute to America’s defense strategy. According to the Department of War, “The program is designed to develop cross-Service strategic thinkers who can operate in unknown environments, deal with unanticipated challenges, adapt non-military developments to security challenges, and seek innovative approaches in order to engage civilian and military leaders on the development and conduct of strategy/operations in the broader context of national policy objectives.”
Arizona State University, partnered with IWP, will offer this program for up to 24 students annually, and IWP will offer the electives, an estimated two to four courses per student. IWP will also collaborate with ASU to offer wargames to students in the STP.
“We are very pleased to partner with ASU on this worthy initiative,” said IWP President Chris Glass. “Strategic thinking about the coordinated use of all the instruments of power to achieve American security is a cornerstone of the IWP curriculum and a specialty of our faculty members, and we are especially honored to serve those who serve our country in the military or in government.”
