The Institute of World Politics (iwp.edu) is pleased to offer two full scholarships for qualified Navy Special Warfare active-duty and veteran service members towards the Professional M.A. (online or in-person) or the in-person Executive M.A. in National Security Affairs.

The Professional M.A. program (Professional Master of Arts in Statecraft and Strategy (Online) or Master of Arts in Strategic and International Studies (Professional)) is 36 credits in length. Full-time status students complete the program in 18 months, but IWP permits part-time study. The degree is designed for professionals with five to seven years of relevant work experience in the national security community. It provides a comprehensive study of the theory and practice of national security policy, process, and implementation, both in historical and contemporary perspectives. Significant attention is directed toward vital current policy issues as well as understanding foreign cultures and the practices of foreign powers.

The Executive M.A. in National Security Affairs program is 28 credits in length and is designed for professionals with seven to ten years of experience. IWP permits full time and part-time study. The Executive M.A. program provides a comprehensive study of the development and implementation of national security policy. It is particularly valuable for professionals who have worked at the tactical and operational levels who need to master the national strategic level of analysis.

Application Deadlines

  • 2023 Fall semester: Applications are currently being accepted through August 10th.
  • 2024 Spring semester:  Applications must be completed by November 15th.
  • 2024 Summer & Fall semesters: April 15th and August 10th, respectively.
