Matthew Russell, IWP Class of 2011, is participating in the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center’s Public Policy Fellowship Program for the 2013-14 school year. This fellowship is designed to educate policy making staffers on proliferation and nuclear weapons and energy essentials. Participants will attend a series of six seminars that cover key historical, technical, and political aspects of nuclear energy and weapons policy.
NPEC is run by Henry Sokolski, Former Deputy for Nonproliferation Policy in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, who also teaches IWP’s course on nuclear weapons proliferation.
“Mr. Sokolski’s expertise and leadership on the changing nuclear landscape is vital for those individuals involved in shaping policy and supporting decision makers,” comments Matthew, who currently serves as Military Legislative Assistant to Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX). “I look forward to taking these insights on what is often an overlooked national security topic and applying them to my work on Capitol Hill. I thank Mr. Sokolski and the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center for giving me the opportunity to participate in the inaugural fellowship program.”
