New Student Government Association Board Elected for 2016-17

2016-17 Student Government Association 444x718A new IWP Student Government Association Board has been elected by the IWP student body for 2016-2017. The SGA was created as a tool to improve every student’s time at IWP. They act as a liaison between the student body and The Institute of World Politics’s administration, faculty, staff and Board of Trustees.

The SGA officers for 2016-17 are:

President: Victorialyn Marie Keay

At IWP, Victorialyn is studying International Affairs with a specialization in American Foreign Policy. In fall 2015, she was appointed by SGA to serve as Social Chair. She hopes to join the Foreign Service and is currently studying Russian. During her time in SGA, she hopes to foster a better connection between students, their classmates, and their professors. Victorialyn is originally from Northeast Ohio.

Vice- President: Jennifer Joy

Jennifer is a current student at The Institute of World Politics going into her second year at the start of the fall 2016 semester. Her specific interests lie in studying psychological strategies involving matters such as water scarcity, motives for espionage, among others. Her intention is to create an environment where students can benefit from the events that the SGA hosts and can bring those experiences they’ve obtained into the interview room.

Treasurer: Mark Barnes

Mark began his time at IWP in spring 2016. From Southern California, Mark transferred from his local community college to UCLA where he received his Bachelor in Political Science with a concentration in international relations in 2015. Mark has interned for legislative officials at the state and federal level at their local district offices. He plans on tracking and maintaining the budget of the SGA, as well as help in fundraising and promoting the financial needs of SGA.

Event Coordinator: Jessica B

Jessica was introduced to IWP by the internship program. She was an intern during spring and summer 2015. She is now working as a recruitment officer for the Institute. As an SGA officer, she plans on hosting several social events on and off campus for students.

Communication – Gilberto Enrique Escamilla

From Texas, Gilberto is pursuing his Master’s in Intelligence and hopes to graduate next May. As an SGA officer in Communications, he will strive to keep the student body informed about events and other things that IWP and SGA have to offer.  He will also ensure that SGA receives feedback from students so that it can continue to serve the student body to the best of its ability.

Social Chair: Regan Danielle Ratliff

As Social Chair, Regan hopes to organize monthly social events for both students and alumni, including more frequent happy hours on Capitol Hill.

Congratulations to the new SGA officers!
