Three incoming students have received The Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Woś Family Foundation Scholarship.

This scholarship was established at IWP in 2017 thanks to the generosity of Louis DeJoy and Amb. Aldona Woś. Through a $1 million gift, they made possible scholarship funds for IWP students for ten years. The Louis DeJoy and Aldona Z. Woś Family Foundation Scholarship provides up to full tuition per semester for recent college graduates who demonstrate significant academic, professional, or personal achievement, as well as a history of leadership and an overall potential to succeed in IWP’s rigorous course of study.

The first recipients of this scholarship were Helen Lamm and Isaac Brocato in 2017. The 2018 recipients of this scholarship were Emily, Gabrielle, Jennifer, and Christopher. The recipients in 2019 are Braeden, Don, and Sarah.

Braeden
Awarded $50,000
Pursuing a Master of Arts in Strategic Intelligence Studies

“The Family Foundation and IWP have allowed me the opportunity to study at an institute that both realizes and stresses the severity of the work we undertake: no other profession is as costly in treasure and blood as this. They foster leaders who take this as a lesson that will forever influence their decisions. I intend to do the same.”

Braeden is from Minnesota and graduated with a B.A. in Political Science, focusing his coursework on International Relations and Comparative Politics. He also graduated summa cum laude and with University Scholar Honors. During his coursework, he was able to do two intensive study abroad trips in Latin America. Further, his senior thesis focused on identifying key variables prior to an intervention to increase the likelihood of success. His case studies focused on U.S. activities in Cuba and Poland as well as Russian activities in Ukraine.

Braeden is pursuing a Master of Arts in Strategic Intelligence Studies at IWP. After graduation, he intends to serve his country.

Donald
Awarded $25,000
Pursuing a Master of Arts in Statecraft and National Security Affairs

“I am honored to have the confidence and support of the DeJoy-Woś family. Their legacy of public service and generosity inspires me to pursue academic and professional excellence, and to actively contribute to the IWP student body and my community.”

Donald is from Southern Oregon and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Portland State University (PSU) in 2019. He is a recipient of the U.S. State Department’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship and recently completed the Overseas Professional and Intercultural Training Program in Kyiv, Ukraine. He was the Director of Public Affairs for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars at PSU and completed multiple internships within the Oregon House of Representatives. Donald committed himself at a young age to earn the privilege of someday serving in a national security profession – this commitment originated during his membership in the cadet program of the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, Civil Air Patrol. As a cadet, Donald achieved the rank of Captain and graduated from multiple flight academies as a student aviator – he is a proud recipient of the Military Officers Association of America Leadership Award.

At IWP, Donald is pursuing an M.A. in Statecraft and National Security Affairs. After graduation, he intends to pursue a long-term public service career within the federal government.
