Three outstanding IWP students received Great Statesman Scholarships for the current school year.
The Margaret Thatcher Scholarship
The Margaret Thatcher Scholarship, established by Philip and Susanna Rice, was awarded to Anna Given.
Anna is a candidate for a Master of Arts in Statecraft and International Affairs from IWP. Her main areas of interest include transnational crime, anti-human trafficking, non-state actors, forced labor, and terrorism. In her first semester at IWP, she has had the opportunity to further explore some of these interests in research papers on topics such as the strength of U.S. security agreements in Asia, and the influence of communism on guerilla fighters in Colombia.
Anna previously received her bachelor’s degree in international studies with concentrations in foreign policy and national security from the American University School of International Service. Throughout her undergraduate career she had the opportunity to complete various internships through Shared Hope International, the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, The Heritage Foundation, and Congressman Daniel Meuser (PA-9). Currently, she works with the Network of Enlightened Woman as the Chapter Leader for the Washington, D.C. Chapter of their Professional Development network. Some of her hobbies include reading, trying new recipes, and exploring the city.
