IWP is pleased to announce the launch of The Sentinel Research Society, a new student organization at The Institute of World Politics (IWP). This initiative, led by our dedicated Doctoral students, supported by graduate students and interns, and guided by our esteemed faculty, exemplifies our commitment to advancing the field of national security and counterintelligence.
The Sentinel Research Society is dedicated to developing creative, unconventional, and non-governmental solutions to counterintelligence (CI) challenges. Led by IWP doctoral students with decades of experience in counterintelligence and supported by graduate students and interns, its mission is to enhance national security and protect critical assets through innovative strategies. It aims particularly to generate creative non-governmental solutions to complex counterintelligence problems.
SRS presents an excellent opportunity for IWP students, interns, and alumni to learn about and engage in supporting counterintelligence concepts without requiring any existing knowledge of intelligence or counterintelligence.
Its publications include:
- Sentinel Journal on Substack: This platform showcases pioneering research and analysis on critical issues in national security, counterintelligence, and related fields.
- Active Measures Journal: The Sentinel Research Society will take charge of this biannual publication, continuing its tradition of delivering comprehensive studies and expert commentary on contemporary security challenges. This journal was originally launched by IWP students in 2012.
The Sentinel Research Society will produce a podcast:
- Common Ground: This podcast series features insightful discussions with leading experts and thought leaders, addressing pressing topics in national security and counterintelligence.
Sentinel will conduct research projects:
- Its inaugural project focuses on the threats posed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to academia, emphasizing the need for vigilance and proactive measures to protect intellectual integrity and national security.
Sentinel will conduct events:
- Tabletop Exercises: These simulations offer practical, hands-on experience in crisis management and strategic decision-making.
- Panel Discussions: Sentinel will host panels with distinguished speakers to explore current and emerging issues in national security.
The Sentinel Research Society represents a unique opportunity to address critical CI challenges with innovative and creative solutions. By bringing together a diverse group of experts and fostering collaboration across sectors, Sentinel will make a significant impact on national security.
